Accoya awarded Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for green footprint

Accsys Technologies, the manufacturer of world leading modified wood Accoya has released an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for maximum transparency while highlighting its impressive environmental features.

Accoya was rewarded with an EPD – an independently verified and registered manner of environmental reporting based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology which provides comparable information about the environmental impact of products. The EPD was developed following the latest relevant standard EN 15804 and was published through EPD Norway and the European ECO-platform.

The latest EPD updates Accoya’s existing declaration, originally released in 2010, to meet the latest standards and account for the large increase in production efficiency in the Accoya production plant in Arnhem since the previous study took place.

EPDs provide guidance helping architects, builders, mechanical engineers and other design professionals select materials taking into account their environmental footprint. Telling the story of a product in a single report, an EPD displays information about a product’s impact on global warming, water pollution, ozone creation and depletion and greenhouse gas emissions.

An EPD following the right standards such as EN 15804 grants additional credits in leading sustainable building certification systems such as LEED, BREEAM and DGNB. In several European countries including Norway, an EPD is essential to conform to government procurement rules.

Paul Clegg, CEO of Accsys said; “It’s fantastic that Accoya has once again published an Environmental Product Declaration. Accoya’s long life-cycle and neutral environmental impact is a key strength which differentiates it against other competitor wood products. As a company we are committed to manufacturing in a socially responsible and eco-friendly way and communicating about it transparently; this declaration certainly contributes to that goal.”
