A new plant for Room & Board

Room & Board, a family-owned and privately held furniture manufacturer, distributor, and retailer of modern artisan-made home accessories and furniture based in Minneapolis, will devote US$12.87 million to a new distribution plant located in Newton, North Carolina, the United States (US). By 2020, the new facility is projected to create at least 13 jobs. Catawba County and the City of Newton have approved numerous incentives for the new distribution facility, including a grant that is equal to half of the new property taxes Room & Board will have for the coming three years.

“This facility will support our future growth as well as serve us well logistically with several manufacturing partners nearby,” distribution director of Room & Board Jerry Testa said in a news release.

“We are excited that Room & Board has chosen Newton for the location of their distribution centre, and we look forward to working with them as they establish their new facility,” Anne P Stedman, the Mayor of Newton, said in a news release. “We are confident they will find Newton to be a welcoming community eager to help them grow and provide even more opportunities for our citizens and our local furniture manufacturers.”
