New government programme in Indonesia to partner furniture designers with manufacturers

Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry has launched a programme to promote the development of the Indonesia’s furniture manufacturing sector. Abdul Rochim, Director General of Agro Industry in the Ministry of Industry said government support will focus on the development of creative and innovative design concepts for the industry, reported ITTO.

The programme will seek to bring together designers, for example those associated with the Indonesian Furniture Designers Association (HDMI), with businesses. An extensive support pack is envisaged covering compiling furniture design catalogues, conducting market assessments through prototyping and market intelligence.
