Brazil’s wood-based panel exports register healthy growth
The trade balance in the Brazilian forest plantations sector reached US$2.9 Bn between January and May, up 4.9 per cent over the same period last year according to the Brazilian Tree Industry (IBA).
The sector registered total exports of US$3.3 billion, 3.2 per cent more compared to the same period in 2016. International sales of wood-based panels totaled US$113 million, a 25.6 per cent increase.
During this period, wood-based panel exports topped 114,000 cbm, a 25.3 per cent increase.
Latin American markets were the main markets, generating revenues of US$62 Mn in 2017. USA and Asia follow, recording revenues of US$26 Mn and US$16 Mn respectively.
